Here is the map : http://marche.jemesouviens.fr/productssimple0.html

Here is the website but I've only found the french one : http://marche.jemesouviens.fr/

But you can send a mail to the organisator Mr Sperandieu.

About Bastogne I'll be there with some of my friends on the saturday, and we have the choice between making this march or take part to the vehicles convoy, we'll see.

Looks like a several of us from Chievres AB will definately be taking part in the walk. Not sure how many of our unit will be there, but we have opened it up to our Air Force counterparts on SHAPE. We haven't decided on the distance but are leaning towards the 14 or 20K hikes. Do you know where you will be? Looking forward to it and hope to see you there!

Tom

PS

Hope to meet others from the site as well!
FIWI

It starts at the commercial center on the road leaving the town to the Mardasson, you have to enter a hall in the middle of the parking for the registration.
Just follow the green guys!!
Major Blaze
Thanks Radar. We are planning on pre-registering. I have 10 people from my unit signed up so far.

Hope to meet you there if not sooner!

It looks like we will have 31 folks from the SHAPE/Chievres Air Force communities participating in the walk. I signed us all up today. Hope to see you there!

Hey Major Blaze, I think this will be possible , I'll be there by 8:30 - 9:00 I guess, and in the afternoon on MC Auliffe square
Major Blaze
Filip, I will be looking for you. We plan on departing Chievres around 6 AM and meeting up with our group from SHAPE. We too should arrive in Bastogne around 8:30 or 9.

So far everyone is highly motivated and looking forward to the march!

Tom, that's terrific participation. Good for you and your people. I hope someone takes lots of photos. And I sincerely hope the weather is not as bad as it was in '44!!! Have a great event! BK

I echo BK on this. Make sure you take lots of photos to share with us.

We certainly will photo document our time, but I will need to figure out how to post them here. I am a bit of a novice I guess. I also have numerous pictures from many sites and events we have seen during our tour here. My family enjoys visting historical loactions and fortunately my squadron is very active in rememberance ceremonies. We also do what we call a annual "Battle Staff Tour". The unit rents a coach to take the members on a field trip per se. Two years ago we followed Operation Market Garden and last year we went to Normandy. Also, as part of a familiarization flight we flew over the Normandy coastline. One of my favorite pictures is of Pointe Du Hoc from the air.
In honor of our air force heritage our unit's conference room is named after a B-17 enlisted crewmember whose aircraft was shot down over our base in "44". He was the only survivor and taken prisoner by the base garrison. We were priveledged to have him return for the dedication. We also take part in a wreath laying ceremony about 6 miles from the base where another B-17 crash landed. It is wonderful being part of a unit that appreciates and honors the sacrifices made by our countrymen.

A truly ambitious event. Good for you all! Imagine had there been snow on the ground!!! ohmy.gif I believe I'll come down on the cautious side and visit the Ardennes in more temperate weather than winter, although I'd always envisioned the area blanketed in snow. Thanks for all the photos, everybody. BK
Major Blaze
Hope to see other WBG members in Bastogne today for the annual walk.
I am on just about on my way (0430) to warm up our Unit's transportation. There are over 40 USAF personnel from SHAPE/Chievres participating in the event. Looks like we will have mild but cold weather. Should be a memorable day!

Some members will be wearing our squadron (309th AS) baseball caps. Say hello if you see us!
