Hello!
I just joined the forum a few days ago (still trying to find my around all the layers) and wanted to introduce myself in the Easy Co. section.
I'm the co-author of Bill and Babe's book "Brothers in Battle, Best of Friends: Two Paratroopers from the Original Band of Brothers Tell Their Story," by Bill and Babe, which is coming out in October. So many people have been asking them about it that we created a website www.brothersinbattlethebook.com , which we're still adding to. Bill and Babe are really excited about the book and we're going to do a Q&A for the website, and a personal message from them to their fans (part of Bill's message was that he wishes his late wife Frannie were here to see this book published--almost had me in tears when he said it).
As for how it all came to be, I'm a friend of Babe's daughter Trisha and when I found out her dad and godfather (Bill) were going to be portrayed in Band of Brothers, I wrote an article about it for Philadelphia Magazine, and an agent called and thought their story (especially with the element of their incredible friendship) would make a great book. So I've been interviewing the boys on and off for 6 years. We couldn't find a publisher for a long time, and then a year ago, our agent ran it by Berkley and they snapped it up. It was an amazing year of interviews almost every other day -- all told we did over 100 of them. I tried to do it in a way that wasn't too much for them, because I could tell when they were talking about the hard stuff, how drained they were from it. But they really wanted to get their story out, so they gave 110%.
The book is not a tribute book, so no other sources were involved. It's straight memoir, them telling their story from beginning to end. I think it's very unique because of their voices (everyone knows they are BOTH characters!) and because of their friendship.
They had me laughing (they are nuts) and crying (their stories are at times gut-wrenching, especially Babe's; Bill's will get your adrenaline going) and it was an amazing year. The most important thing to me at the end of it all was them reading the book as a whole and being proud of it. I can tell you I was holding my breath because they can be tough customers (lovable, but feisty!), so my greatest moment was hearing that they both were happy and excited for it it come out. They asked me every day "When's it coming out!!!"
The boys will be doing their book tour in October and November and we'll post all the happenings on the calendar at the website. Please check it out, and if you sent us an email with subscribe in the subject line, we'll send periodic updates as we get tour stuff scheduled. I am working on getting the publicity people to schedule a big launch party in South Philly, Bill wants it at Popi's his favorite restaurant, so we're working on it.
If you have questions about the book, or if there's anything you'd like to see on the site, let us know!
Thanks!!! : )

Welcome, bienvenue.
I'm glad such a book will soon exist.
I was lucky enough to meet Bill and Babe and I'm very fond of them.
Where will the book be sold? Will it be possible to get a copy ordered from France?

Nath,

Yes that's what I mean. I sent a mail to Robyn who friendly answered that she didn't know if it would happen one day. Idem for Larry Alexander (Larrya)'s book. And I'm totally unknown to the publishing's world here in France & Belgium (I mean, it's not like if I knew a publisher and could give him the idea).

Wanted to let everyone know we have our first two book signings with Bill and Babe scheduled! Center City Philly Barnes and Noble on Thurs. October 4, 7 p.m. and New Orleans at the WWII museum on Oct. 20 at 1 p.m. I posted all the info at the website ( brothersinbattlethebook.com ).
Hopefully more cities to come. I think more will be on the East coast, though, to make it easier for Bill and Babe to travel, especially Bill right now(!), but if any TV appearances get scheduled (fingers crossed), i.e. in L.A., Chicago, etc., they will probably do signings in those places.
Thanks for all your posts. I will be printing them out for the boys to read!
Best wishes,
Robyn

Nat, it is possible to get it by Amazon I think. But I don't know how it works, internet stores have always scared me (for stupid reasons I suppose).
Edit: I'm happy to read that Bill and Babe are planning travels or things like that. Not because I'll be able to be there but because it means they seem to be allright (or doing just better slowly but surely).

I got all my books via Amazon or other online shops and never had a problem.
I even got books from sellers located in New Zealand ... works like a charm via Amazon.
You can order Bill and Babe´s book via Amazon.fr

I meant we're trying to get a French or Belgian publisher to do a French translation of the book. In English the book should be available everywhere.

Maybe you and Gino could organise a few to be signed by Bill and Babe when Bill is up to it and sold via the mercantile on WBG, pre ordered. Just a thought. I would certainly wait for that. Don't forget to sign them yourself

Many people have been asking about signed copies, and we so appreciate the interest, but unfortunately we're not planning to sell any. These things get complicated when there are three authors, plus, it would end up being a full-time job! : )
Hopefully, there will be enough events set up in different places, to allow for more people to get to signings. We'll be in Philly Oct. 4th., New Orleans Oct. 20 (someone asked if we'll be anywhere else but the museum- no plans for that at the moment), and we'll be in D.C. in November. It's best to check the website for the up-to-the-minute info, or sign up there for updates; everytime something is scheduled, emails get sent to subscribers (brothersinbattlethebook dot com).
Take care!

So I´m going to stick to the regular version ... to get it signed ( hopefully ) sometime in the near future.

Robyn, I'm looking forward to the DC signing(s). Any head's up you could provide would be appreciated, so I can plan to be around. And try to beat the crowds. After all, there are lots of vets around here.
I'm loving the image. Bill and Babe, rock stars in status-conscious Washington. That's very much how it should be.

Hi everyone,
The first booksigning for Brothers in Battle, Best of Friends is this Thursday at the Barnes & Noble Rittenhouse Square in Philly, from 7 - 9 p.m., and of course Bill and Babe will both be there.
I have a strange favor to ask: If you're planning to go, can you please email me to let me know you're coming, how many people are coming with you, and how many books you plan to buy? I am going to forward this info to the manager of the store because I'm afraid she didn't buy enough books. The booksellers fear ordering too many and not selling them, and I feel like they underestimated, though I could be wrong.
My email is ropo345@yahoo.com.
Thank for your help!

Sometimes I think Amazon ( Germany ) is playing tricks on me.
Some books arrived way before the schedule - without sending a message before - while the delivery of others was delayed only 1 day before they should have arrived
I pre-ordered my copy to make sure to recieve it as soon as possible ... works quite well ... normally

This format is really odd for me, but I am a newbie. Just wanted to say that today I received my copy of
Brothers in Battle , and I love it. You can hear their voices in every sentence. I am a librarian, and I am planning to push this book for next year's Novello Festival of Reading and hope we can bring Robyn Post as well as get Bill and Babe to come. (These guys are a living definition of the word friendship.) This annual festival brings some of the nations's finest authors the Queen City. There are a lot of BOB fans in NC. I can't promise anything, but I am going to give it my best shot.
