Hi everyone, the Screaming Eagles Living History Group here in the UK held a special service for
the 101st Airborne dedicated to 'Easy' Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th P.I.R. The service was held
in St. Michaels Church, Aldbourne during the afternoon of Veterans Day. The US Ambassador to England was invited but sadly he was unable to attend ,but, he did send a Lt. Col. and three Majors to represent him.

Can I ask you a couple of questions about this? I just.......don't get it.

First, why do you (I presume) Brits spend your time pretending to be Americans? What about the British Airborne?

Also, you wear your fake-uniforms and what to me seems rather in bad taste, which is fake medals / ribbon bars. I don't like it when people wear these badges and medals that were earned with blood, sweat and tears in real situations - but now anyone can wear them without ever earning them?

I don't get it........what does it give you? What do you get out of it?

I remember seeing a bunch of people dressed up like British Airborne in Normandy. They had a convoy to go out there and spent the time camping and running around with their wooden rifles........I really didn't understand what the point was. It was fun to look at for about two minutes, but then I just wanted to remind them all that they are NOT ACTUAL SOLDIERS - cos the way they were acting made me think they actually believed they were.

We don't. British Airborne and Royal Marines Rule!

Some Brits, Yankees, and Confederates like to remember history and honour those who were involved in it, including morons like yourself by reenacting.

Not my bag! I prefer to honour those who were there from the start or later, including very close family by going to memorials and anniversaries.

Did you address that remark towards me?

In another thread someone remarked how quiet this forum is. Well this is about the fifth thread I have read since joining that contains blatent insults.

Ian if I disagree on things with you, would that make me a moron? I just dont see a need for it myself.

Hello Davep,

I happen to live very near Aldbourne, and the last time I was there I saw some reenactors outside Blue Boar Pub on village green. And I tell you those guys made me think about young men who left the place to fight all those years ago ....so I believe they help keep the history alive in people's hearts and mind.

Ian when are you going to join me at Blue Bore Pub? or anyone else????? I wanna see you all smile.gif

Sorry, he got me at a bad time, I shouldn't have bitten back. Uncalled for and immature. I apologise.

As for Aldbourne you can count me in some time next year maybe.

Bitten back FOR WHAT ?

What an ABSURD way to behave. I asked QUESTIONS about reenacting.

MISAKO - thank you for making the point. And thanks for a SENSIBLE reply too.
