Someone asked over on the CMP forums if anyone had news on Dick Winters. I replied that the last I heard was that his family, his wife in particular, has asked the public for some peace and quiet, in essense to be left alone, since Mr. Winters was not feeling quite as young as he used to. So that made me wonder if anyone has any news on how he's doing.

I think he has earned the peace and quiet. God Bless Major Winter and his family. I hope his health is good as well. Merry Christmas to all!

As well as can be expected for a man who will be 90 in 6 weeks. The heart is tired and the Parkinson's Disease continues to take its toll. Visitation by anyone other than family and the closest of friends is all but impossible and the "Do Not Disturb" sign in his front yard is still there. Autograph seekers are turned away and books and packages sent by anyone Dick and Ethel do not know are refused.
In short, as was mentioned ealier, he wants that peace he fought to earn.

Larry,
Thank you so much for giving us some news.
I respect Mr Winters' desire for peace and quiet.
If you have the chance, just hint that many of us think of him and wish him well.
