Not to my knowledge. In fact, knowing Dick Winters as I do, had he seen it or known about it at the time, he almostt certainly would have reprimanded Spiers for taking such a risk. Dick appreciates courage and bravery, but it's a fine line between that and being foolhardy. Did Spiers have to make that dash? Don't know. He doubtless thought so.

I think i just read this in the book Band of Brothers and it said that he recieved a promotion to whatever "foxhole" norman dikes job was.

I think 'StandupHookup" was referring to any kind of decoration. And I don't believe so.

Promotion - demotion - reassignment - I don't think Dick Winters cared what it was. He was just glad to get rid of Dike. I asked him if he ever learned where they had sent Dike and his only answer was, "I hope to hell they found something he could do."
