I'm just curious to know how many members from here have actually been to Blue Boar Pub in Aldbourne??

I once saw E Company re enactors on village green outside the pub. I was watching them through the window of Blue Boar and thought how little must have changed around there within last 60 odd years (except for the number of cars parked around the green) and how many of those young men who enjoyed visiting the pub actually came back alive.

When I first saw the picture of Lt Meehan at the back of restaurant part of the pub, I felt quite sad - he looks so young in it.

Anyway, as I said, I'm just curious. :-)

Hi misako

I along with my wife and daughter spent a day with Don Marlarkey, Earl Mcclung and the Makos family from Valor Studios back in July. We spent the morning at Upottery and the afternoon at Aldbourne and took some pics outside the pub.

To all who are interested there are no photo's in the pub that i could see, there is a letter apparently still on the wall about the Americans. If every one kept their eyes on the Stephen Ambrose web site you will see that they have just come over for a tour. On sunday the 7th Sept they arrived in England and went to Littlecote then over to Aldbourne for lunch in the Blue Boar. The veteran that came with them was Fred Bahlau H/HQ companies 506 p.i.r. Anyway never mind the Blue Boar get yourselves over to Littlecote House and see the stable and the museum in the house and put a donation in the box , help keep the history alive.

Misako, I gladly had a pint in the Blue Boar in 2002, when on the BOB Tour with Bill and Babe. It was a splendid afternoon.
