I was fortunate enough to meet Mr Craton at the Camp Toccoa Reunion a few years back (where I also met up with Emerson Bigguns). I'll always remember the first time I saw him as he came in to the old Stephens County Historical Society building. He had the biggest smile on his face and he came over and said hello and shook my hand. He seemed one of the nicest, kindest people I've ever seen. Later that day, at the book signing, he was kind enough to autograph my copy of Mark Bando's book. He wrote his address in the book, and that Christmas I sent him a card. He sent me a letter back thanking me, and said that he'd tried to find my phone number so he could call me. I sent it along and he did call. The year after, the 501st PIR had their reunion in Ft. Mitchell, KY near Cincinnati, and I made it a point to go over to see him. I spent a couple of wonderful hours visiting with him there.

I wish I could have a few more.

I pray he made a soft landing when he took the final jump. Blessings and prayers to his family, friends and those whose lives he touched.
