I was in Normandy with the York Branch of the Normandy Veterans Association; a group of 30 vets and their family members.

Just a couple of photos for you.

The veterans gather at Colleville-Montgomery:

Wow... a lot of new faces. And a "Polar Bear" between them... that's so great. I talked to a men with the same polar bear tie on the Ranville Cemetary on the seventh, with Andy, but I don't think that he actually served in the 49th West Riding Division.

Too bad we haven't met... hope there will be a next time. Thanks for the excellent photo's!

Yes, he was a pukka Polar Bear. Cyril Howarth was taken prisoner in Holland in October 1944, and all the others vets served in Holland 1944/45.
