When I leave work on these cold New England nights, I can't help but think of the men of Easy CO. and how they dealt with the conditions at Bastogne.
To spend night after night in a fox hole with no heat, under enemy fire, is more than I can comprehend. Where do we get such men?
God bless all of them, especially the ones still there.
Being the son of a WWII vet, I have always had the deepest respect for those that served. My father made sure of that.
I will pass this onto my sons and daughter as well. Their story must told and passed on for all generations.

Great post.
Very time we get cold weather and heavy snow here in Newark, I think about Bastogne. About St. Vith, Malmedy, and the Schnee Eifel, too, where my father's cousin Stanley Samberg bought it with the 106th Infantry.
And I'm amazed anybody came back.

Thanks, I'm glad sites like this are around for us to show our appreciation to these brave and curageous men. I am in awe of them. There seems to be no way I can think of to properly thank them. I hope more and more will join this site and honor these men for years to come. They are the greastest generation of our time.
I've read many books on WWII.
BoB has left a lifetime impression on me. I hope that Tom Hanks will do more series such as this one.

I remember one of the easy company soldiers says in the BoB documentary on the DVD that on cold nights he often thinks the same thing.
Can anyone remember who it was?

Yes, sir. It was a fellow Texan Mr. Stokes, however it is J.B. Stokes, from Leonard, Texas. I love hearing his drawl in his speaking, makes me a bit homesick. If only I had known he lived such a short distance from my hometown, I would have made an effort to pay him a visit while I lived there.
Shoulda, coulda, woulda......carpe diem and don't look back!

I can attest, having served 3 consecutive years (and Winters) in W, Germany....... December is one cold, brutally cold, month! The sheer mettle that the men of Easy Company displayed during the Battle of Bastogne is an outstanding testament to their very strong will and dedication! They lived in frozen foxholes...... I was in a warm (peacetime barracks...) I salute them ALL!
Currahee!
