Dear Forum,
Just giving you a heads up on the latest update to WW2 Battlefield Relics site, which includes some ID disks found in the Aldbourne area. Please visit the page via the link below. Any further information on the men mentioned is appreciated.
I dedicate this page to the memory of that "Company of Heroes".
Best Wishes
Simon

Thanks Frank. The link you posted refers to the removal of the stables from behind the house on the village green last year. These stables were used by Easy as billets during 44.
The items found on my site are not from this location.

Interesting reading from you guys.if anyone is interested the guy to contact on anything Aldbourne is Clive Stevens & his brother Neil, they have been researching Aldbourne & the villages around that area well before the Band of Brothers & Saving Private Ryan days,I think from the early 8o`s,Clive is the guy that has a lot to do with the veterans vists,he was the organsier for the Gathering of Eagles & the small group when Babe & Bill visited on the Ambrose tour last year(posted photo`s on this site from then).he has compiled a short booklet on the 101st in Aldbourne & the villages around that area, including black & white photo`s,the booklet includes interviews with local people that remember the Airborne being in Wiltshire during ww2,with a total of twenty eight pages this is a limited edition run & not done on cheap paper (it`s one to keep). Any information he can gather will be of great interest to him as he may well be looking to publish a bigger better edition or further publications if anyone would like a copy he can sell you one at a very reasonable price , he has no e-mail but can be contacted at MR CLIVE STEVENS,WILLOW COTTAGE, EYE ROAD, BROME,SUFFOLK, IP23 8AL,ENGLAND , or by phone on +44 (0) 1379 871020. ......please feel free to drop him a line he`s a nice kind og bloke ....best to you all ..Jonny Loot

Just to bring guys up to speed and perhaps to be able to help. A Sherman tank turret (in very poor condition) has been discovered near to Aldbourne.
We imagine that this was put in place to act as a static "pillbox" during training, but perhaps there are some vets out there who recall different.
Any recollections would be helpful.
Thanks
Simon
