I am passing this link along about the death of Randy Hils. He is best known here for his posta about the Troop Carrier controversy. It is a shock to many to lose such a dedicated man at such an early age. His dedication to the Troop Carrier organization and Marines was outstanding. He was a freind to all who asked for help and his loss is a sad occasion for all.

Shocking indeed. 53 was too early to have to say goodbye. I spent a great deal of time perusing that forum just a few weeks ago. He and the Colonel had quite a sprited debate going on there. The man certainly had a great knowledge and passion for everything related to the Troop Carrier corps. My condolences all around.

This is really a shocking piece of news. There are ancient troop carrier veterans lifting a toast to Randy Hils wondering how it could be that they're still here and their chief champion is gone. I'm shaking my head too. What a terrible loss to the struggle to get the history right. I've often thought it was quite remarkable that Randy must have been scouring the internet to find places where he needed to set the record straight. Thank you so much for stopping here, Randy Hils, and educating us with your very civil and detailed information.

On a personal note, I'm about to be 65 and had a bit of a health threat last year before which news like this about Randy would not have had quite as jarring a jolt. Since then, it seems I've heard a lot of sad stories like this. Fifty-three is way too young to hang 'em up. Here's to second chances!

RIP, Randy. I'm sure you've found many old (and forever young) friends waiting for you. BK

It is very shocking news. And so sad at the age of 53.
I wasn't knowledgeable enough to join in the debate on the board, but I recognised and respected Mr. Hils' knowledge and passion on the subject.

I'm so saddened to hear of his passing, and my thoughts and best wishes go to his loved ones.

RIP Mr. Hils

I'm terribly late with this news, this is so sad to hear. Randy helped me to connect with Charles Young about the C47 which crashed at Savy, Bastogne, with the name "Ain't Missbehavin".
Thanks for all you did Randy. May you rest in peace.

I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Randy Hils. Randy and I stood on opposite poles regarding TC pereformance on D-Day, but Randy was always a gentleman in his rebuttals and always came to the table prepared to discuss, describe, defend and champion his TC buddies.

God bless you, Randy Hils, and may He keep you in eternal peace.
